The American Hospital, which was established before the inception of the Republic, proudly celebrated its 100th anniversary in August 2020 with its employees.

The American Hospital was founded on August 20, 1920, in a three-story wooden mansion in Çarşıkapı Street in the Old City with just 45 beds and three operating theaters under the leadership of Admiral Mark L. Bristol as Turkey’s first nonprofit private hospital. Turkey’s first Nursing School that opened simultaneously also became an integral part of the hospital. Today, the American Hospital is a full-fledged healthcare institution with 278 patient rooms, 58 of which are reserved for intensive care patients, 62 intensive care beds, and 12 operating theaters.
